Первое совместное статистическое издание БРИКС было подготовлено в 2010 году. С тех пор регулярно одна из стран БРИКС выпускает такую публикацию. Издание 2017 года, было подготовлено Китаем, 2018 года - Южной Африкой, а данное, десятое, издание подготовлено Россией. Публикация включает в себя 15 глав: первая глава представляет собой резюме всей публикации и содержит общую информацию по сопоставимым статистическим данным для пяти стран, в то время как другие 14 глав отражают различные аспекты прошлого развития и текущего состояния каждой страны. Главы содержат сводную таблицу, за которой следуют таблицы стран и графики. Сводная таблица и графики представляют наиболее сопоставимую информацию по пяти странам, в то время как страновые таблицы показывают более подробную информацию отдельно по каждой стране.
