  • European Association for Population Studies (EAPS),
  • Department of Socio-Demographic Policy and Social Protection Development, Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation,
  • Analytical Department of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation,
  • Committee on Women, Family & Youth Issues of the Gosudarstvennaya Duma (Parliament) of the Russian Federation,
  • Chair of Family & Gender Politics of the Moscow State Sociological University,
  • Chair of Family Sociology at the Faculty of Sociology of the Moscow State 'Lomonosov' University.

The Conference is dedicated
to the 250th anniversary of the Moscow State 'Lomonosov' University
and the 40th anniversary of the Laboratory of Population Economy & Demography
at the Faculty of Economics of the Moscow State 'Lomonosov' University

The scientific program of the Conference will comprise five sessions dealing with the following issues:

  • Population policy and sustainable development: global aspects and national strategies
  • Population policy: concepts & historical experience
  • Population policy: structure, goals, principles, implementation mechanisms, and effectiveness
  • Family and fertility policies
  • Health improvement and life expectancy policies
  • Migration policy: demographic, economic and socio-cultural aspects
  • Information & personnel provision for population policy
  • Practical evidence from regions of Russia in elaboration and implementation of population development strategies and programs
  • Demographic, economic and social policies - problems of coordination

The Conference will pay special attention to theoretical and applied aspects of elaboration and implementation of population policy in transition countries, as well as in Russia and its regions. .

The Conference Program will include a Round Table on: "Population policy: counteracting depopulation or adaptation to it".

All the events will take place consecutively, so that the participants of the Conference will have an opportunity to attend all of them.

At the early June 2004 Information Letter # 2 with the Conference Program and terms of participation (deadline for abstracts, accommodation facilities, registration fee (around 50 Euros), etc.) will be send to interested persons.
